Copperheads enter their first 7s tournament

The Collin County Copperheads will take the field on July 11 at Lake Highlands Park in Dallas for the club’s first ever 7s tournament. Competing in the Social Division at Sheriff 7s, the Copperheads are entering the event with clear intent: represent the club well, embrace the pace and intensity of 7s rugby, and bring a trophy back to Collin County.

The squad will be led by Laron Hughes and will feature a dangerous mix of speed, power, and experience. Josh Paulsen brings the kind of speed and elusiveness that can change a match in a single break, while Michael Brantley and Gonzo Ruiz add a strong combination of pace and physicality. The Copperheads will look to play aggressive, disciplined rugby from the opening whistle.

Opponents have not yet been announced, but the team is preparing for a full day of fast, competitive rugby. Supporters are encouraged to come out and back the Copperheads as the club begins a new chapter in 7s competition. Parking at Lake Highlands Park is limited, so attendees should plan to arrive early and allow additional time before kickoff.
